The dwarf show

Filed under: Bollywood — Desibaba @ 6:36 pm

There had been recently a movie starring Javed Jafrey which has a theme I think taken from the literary work of Jonathan Swift which was a social satire of the times in English Literature, the name of the book is Gulliver’s Travels. The movie has shown the hero lost in the sea after a shipwreck and finally reaching an island of dwarfs. The dwarfs are men so small as a human thumb. The role of the king of the dwarfs is played by Gulshan Grover and the film is named “Ja Jantram Ma Mantaram”. The film is full of strange happenings involving some supernatural play as well.

The split between two brothers due to different thinking

Filed under: Bollywood — Desibaba @ 6:34 pm

I have seen a Hindi Movie recently in which the two brothers who were very close from the childhood are shown to be drifted away due to a difference in their ideologies. The movie is “Divaar”, and the two brothers are Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor in the movie. Amitabh becomes a sort of don and the other becomes a police officer. And the conflict becomes more intense as the film progresses. This type of a theme is very interesting and this film is a must watch.

The contract killers in the films of Bollywood

Filed under: Bollywood — Desibaba @ 6:34 pm

Any number of films in the Bollywood can be seen In which the concept of contract killings have been taken up. The gangsters go on a rampant scale killing for money commonly referred to as the “Supari Killing”. They are shown to be killing people without having any reason to kill except for money they get for killing the people. Those who have some sort of problems with their rivals in the illegal business go for the termination of the life of others by paying the gangsters for the act of killing.

The kidnapping and ransom scenes

Bollywood has a lot of films involving scenes of kidnapping and then demanding ransom. The films use it to show this evil act being done in our society. There are many gangsters whose profession is to kidnap and then demand the ransom. These films are mainly concerned with the awareness of the people to be careful from such criminals. These criminals can go to any limit for money. They would kidnap the children of rich people or can kidnap a rich businessman or can even kidnap a girl for money. This had been a good subject in Hindi Cinema.

The helicopters as an attractive machine

Filed under: Bollywood — Desibaba @ 6:28 pm

I liked to watch the Hindi films having the chopper or a helicopter scene on the posters of a movie. This is so because everyone loves to see such a flying machine on the screen doing maneuvers which we are not able to see in our daily lives. The scenes such as the actor Dharmendra pulling a chopper down with a rope or some hero performing adventurous moves on the chopper risking his life and then being able to be successful in defeating the enemy is a welcome scene for us.

The dance in the clubs and the pubs

The Bollywood films have shown a lot of glamour to the audience in India. The glamour girls were there in the old films too and they did what is called the cabaret dancing in the club. The most famous among the cabaret dancers in the classic cinema was the great cabaret dancer named Helen. Her dance was liked by all and at one time it was a matter of style to have her in at least one song in a movie in those days. She was a real performer in the sense that she exhibited the dance moves so precisely that everyone loved to see her dance on the silver screen. Really it was her time and she just did it.

The ladies fight

In a lot of Hindi films one can find the scenes of ladies fighting and overthrowing a large number attacking men down and emerging triumphant. The women fighting on screen is a good view because we never see such thing happening in life. Often in films the ladies are seen attacking the opponents, which may be a lady or a man, with the help of slippers. For me such a scene is a really amusing one and I never miss a scene like this on the television. A Hindi Movie named “Sita Aur Geeta” starring Hema Malini in a double roll is a great option to see the women in action.

The diamonds as the currency of the smugglers

Filed under: Bollywood — Desibaba @ 6:22 pm

The smugglers in the Bollywood films are seen running after the diamonds and risk their lives to secure diamonds. The diamonds being very precious and easy to handle is a preferred currency for the smugglers in the real life and so in the films too. We can see the diamond struggle in many Hindi films. The main issue in such films is the struggle between the police and the gangsters to take away the consignment. The police try to crack down the network but the gangsters try to get out safely. The Film ‘Shaan” shows how in a song Amitabh Bachchan steals a diamond necklace.

Gold as the main item of smuggling

Filed under: Bollywood — Desibaba @ 6:21 pm

I have seen many movies in which the whole story rotates around the gold rush. The villains try to smuggle gold as their mainstay and the hero tries to stop them and the conflict arises. Ultimately the struggle leads to a lot of involvement and the conflict even gets into the family lives of the heroes as well as the villains. The story of the movie “don” shows Amitabh Bachchan involved in the task of smuggling and fooling the established players in this business. So the gold rush is an important issue to film upon in the Bollywood movies.

The time bomb threat

Filed under: Bollywood — Desibaba @ 6:15 pm

The most commonly used type of bomb in the Bollywood films is the time bomb. IT is used by the gangsters in the movies to threaten the public or to make the police and anyone to accept their demands. The time bomb theory in the films is a great success. In every other movie we can find one either set to blow or going off. It is also used in movies sometimes to create a comedy scene showing a scared person having a time bomb hanged to his neck and running here and there to escape the bomb explosion. Usually we would find time bombs fitted in the cars to kill an important person.
